Jul 20, 2020 | News, Team of the Week

Last weekend saw the last round of the Spanish Primera Division with Real Madrid coming out on top. For this occasion ORTEC has analyzed the data of the entire season of the Primera Division and made a Team of the Week consisting of the players that were most often the key to victory.

These were the players that performed the most key actions over the entirety of this Primera Division season.

A key action is any action (pass, free kick, throw in, ect.) which directly leads to a shot by a teammate.

Optimize your stats

– The most players come from Real Madrid, who has three players on the team.

– The best scoring player this week is Lionel Messi of Barcelona, with 84 key actions done during the entire season. Messi also has the highest average of key actions per game of the season, with an average of 2.5 key actions per game.

– Barcelona and Sevilla, the respective second and fourth place of the Primera division, both have two players on the team. In contrast to that the third place, Atlético Madrid, Has zero players on the team.

– In general the midfield was the place to be to make key actions. In the top ten of most key actions taken 7 out of 10 players hold a midfield position, and in the top twenty this divide goes up to 14 out of 20.

– We can also look at key passes made over the season. In that case Sergio Canales comes out on top with 59 key passes made. This is roughly 76% of his total key actions.

– The keeper with the most key actions was Álex Remiro with 3 key actions over the season. However when looking at the amount of total saves over the season then Levantes’ Aitor Fernández scored the highest with 209 saves on goal attempts.

ORTEC Sports Tactic Tree

The ORTEC Sports Team of the Week is released every Monday and will present the best performing players on a specific aspect of the Tactic Tree. The Tactic Tree is used to categorize statistics into the two main stages of a game: ‘being in possession’ and the counterpart ‘possession opponent’, both divided into 4 subcategories.

Every week we pick one statistic that is used in a subcategory and based on that statistic the best scoring players on each position will be presented in the team of the week.
