With the teams getting ready for the second round of the Champions League group stage, what better to base the Team of the Week on than the first round? This week ORTEC Sports looked at our build-up statistics to find the best aggressive passers. The Team consists of the players with the most completed passes on the opponent’s half.
Optimize your stats
-The squad with the most players on the team is Real Madrid with 4 players on the team. This is followed up by FC Barcalona with 3 players on the Team. The team being predominantly Spanish should not come as a mayor surprise due to the Spanish playstyle favoring passing often.
– The best scoring player this week is Raphaël Guerreiro of Borussia Dortmund with 64 completed passes on the opponent half. Although he played further forward during the last round of the Champions League, we felt he would best serve in this set-up as a left back.
– For the goalkeeper we picked Dénes Dibusz for making the most saves, although his save % was not that impressive as he let 5 goals through.
– We can also look at attempted passes on the opponent half. In that case Marcelo of Real Madrid who is not currently on the team of the week would have been the highest scoring player, with 74 attempted passes. This gets followed closely by Raphaël Guerreiro with 70 attempts.
– Another statistic we can focus on is attempted passes own half. The highest scorer of Champions League round 1 is then Rúben Dias of Man City with 89 passing attempts on his own half.
ORTEC Sports Tactic Tree
The ORTEC Sports Team of the Week is released every Monday and will present the best performing players on a specific aspect of the Tactic Tree. The Tactic Tree is used to categorize statistics into the two main stages of a game: ‘being in possession’ and the counterpart ‘possession opponent’, both divided into 4 subcategories.
Every week we pick one statistic that is used in a subcategory and based on that statistic the best scoring players on each position will be presented in the team of the week.
