Team of the Week – Europe #28

Jul 13, 2020 | News, Team of the Week

It was another match-packed weekend in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A. Looking back at the matches, ORTEC Sports collected the best players from Spain (round #36), Italy (round #32) and England (round #35) based on specific statistics.

For this round, the Team of the Week consists of the most successful defensive duelists, based on our Defensive-statistics. These are the players with the most defensive duels won during the weekend. When two players had the same amount of defensive duels won on a position, their percentage of defensive duels won was the deciding factor.

Optimize your stats

– None of the teams have multiple players in the team of the week, however the team this week consists of a total of 8 Premier League players, leaving only 3 spots for La Liga and Serie A players.

– The best scoring player this week is Bernardo Espinosa of RCD Espanyol, with 15 defensive duels won.

– Since no keeper got involved in defensive duels this week, Vincente Guaita of Crystal Palace got chosen based on them making the most amount of saves this week with 9 saves.

Lucas Moura stands out with his amount of defensive duels won. At 7 duels he has over twice the amount of any forward. He was involved in a total of 12 defensive duels, winning over half of them.

– Another stat we could look is attacking duels won. In that case Raúl García of Athletic Bilbao is the victor this weekend with a total of 14 duels won.

Below you will find the top five of total defensive duels won over the entirety of the current Premier League, La Liga and Serie A competitions.

ORTEC Sports Tactic Tree

The ORTEC Sports Team of the Week is released every Monday and will present the best performing players on a specific aspect of the Tactic Tree. The Tactic Tree is used to categorize statistics into the two main stages of a game: ‘being in possession’ and the counterpart ‘possession opponent’, both divided into 4 subcategories.

Every week we pick one statistic that is used in a subcategory and based on that statistic the best scoring players on each position will be presented in the team of the week.
