Team of the Week – UCL & EL round #4

Team of the Week – UCL & EL round #4

Dec 1, 2020 | Champions League, Europa League, News, Team of the Week

For this Team of the Week, ORTEC Sports look at the stats of both the Champions League and the Europa League their round #4. This weeks Team consists of the best offensive duelists, taking stats from our offensive and build-up statistics to find the players who have won the most attacking duels last week.

Optimize your stats

– There is no squad delivering multiple players to the Team of the Week this week.

– The best scoring player this week is Abdellah Zoubir of Qarabag FK with 15 attacking duels won. This totalled to 58% of the duels he engaged in.

– For the goalkeeper we picked Manuel Neuer for making the most saves at 11, Sporting a save % of 91%. However special mention should go out to Olympiakos Piraeus’s José Sá as well, who had the same amount of saves and save %.

– If we look at the player who has the highest % of attacking duels won, we end up with a list of players who won 100% of duels, but only engaged in 4 attacking duels at most as well which is not very interesting. However if we cross reference it with the amount of duels won we get some interesting highlights:

– Zenit St Petersburg’s forward, Artem Dzyuba, won an impressive 73% of his attacking duels landing him 11 attacking duel wins.
Luuk de Jong, forward from Sevilla, achieved similar results winning 11 duels with a win % of 65%.

– Another statistic we can focus on is total duels engaged to see which player  can be expected to walk up to you the most when you have the ball. For this statistic Yangel Herrera of Granada CF takes the lead with 33 total duels, followed suit by PSG’s Neymar with 30.

Below you will see a table of who has won the most attacking duels in either League so far.

ORTEC Sports Tactic Tree

The ORTEC Sports Team of the Week is released every Monday and will present the best performing players on a specific aspect of the Tactic Tree. The Tactic Tree is used to categorize statistics into the two main stages of a game: ‘being in possession’ and the counterpart ‘possession opponent’, both divided into 4 subcategories.

Every week we pick one statistic that is used in a subcategory and based on that statistic the best scoring players on each position will be presented in the team of the week.
